In 2008, County Council commissioned a review of the Wellington & District Community Centre resulting in a recommendation to replace the facility due to it’s age and size, Building Code & Fire Code issues, building infrastructure problems and accessibility. Public meetings were held to inform the public of the issues and receive their feedback. The overwhelming response was that the facility was important to Prince Edward County and should be replaced with a facility that would provide not only opportunities for arena users but also opportunities for seniors, children and the community as a whole to be active and lead a healthier, active lifestyle.
As you read through the site you will learn about the history of the Wellington & District Community Centre, the unique and exciting features of the new Community Centre and how you can get involved.
